Visual Arts students, staff, family and friends flocked to the Arts Floor of the Ron Lake building on Monday evening for the biggest night in the BSSC Arts Calendar – the Visual Arts Acquisitions Exhibition.
For the first time, all Unit 3-4 Art and Studio Art, Visual Communication Design, and Product Design and Technology Textiles students displayed their work in one bumper exhibition… and what a wonderfully diverse and engaging show it was.
“It was great to see the diverse range of art and design on display ranging from Unit 4 Art, Art Fashion, Studio Arts Ceramics, Photography, Painting and Drawing as well as Product Design Technology- Textiles,” Visual Arts coordinator, Marcus Patching, said.
“A special thanks to Michelle Schober who was the driving force behind the event organisation with assistance from Leigh Norton and all of the Visual Arts staff.”
More than 20 awards were presented across a broad range of visual art disciplines including the coveted Parents & Friends Acquisition and the Student Council Acquisition awards won by Taita McKeagney and Jarrod Wallace respectively.
The large audience listened intently to our guest judges; Paul Northam – managing curator at the La Trobe University VAC, Dr Vincent Alessi – Senior lecturer Creative Arts, La Trobe University and Elizabeth May – owner, House of Cloth.
Congratulations to all students who exhibited their work and to the staff who made it such a memorable occasion for students and families.
