A group of Year 11 Studio Art students had the chance to push their technical skills and take their creativity to a new level today at the La Trobe University Printmaking facilities this morning.

Their day began with a tour of the La Trobe Uni Visual Arts department before getting to the hands-on workshop facilitated by La Trobe Visual Arts Lecturer, Ry Hasking.

The students explored the process of combining stencils and photo transfer techniques, while getting a taste of the art facilities at La Trobe.

BSSC Art teacher, Helen Attrill, said the workshop was funded by the La Trobe School Partnerships Program and gave students a great insight into further education in the visual arts.

“It’s important for students to have these opportunities,” she said. “And good for our professional development as teachers too.”
