Outdoor and Environmental Studies students recently enjoyed a challenging three-day hike on the new ‘Grampians Peaks Trail’.

Although this was ‘plan C’ for the trip, due to fires in the Alpine National Park, it proved to be an amazing trip.

The journey began with an introduction to the creation story of the Gariwerd region (the name given to the area by the local Djab Wurrung people) through a cultural immersion activity at the Brambuk Cultural Centre.

Days two, three and four included some steep climbs, beautiful views and best of all, no fires!

The students finished the 35 km walk on Friday ready to enjoy a shower and a meal after experiencing why this trail is tipped to become the latest of the ‘Great Walks’ in Victoria.
