Three of our vision impaired students will soon be making their way to Canada for what is sure to be an exciting two-week experience. Camp Joe is located on the picturesque Lake Joseph in Ontario, Canada.  This is a joint initiative between Vision Australia, New Zealand Society for the Blind and the Canadian National Institute for the Blind.

Josh Watson, Kate Stevens and Alayna Campbell will be heading off in July for what is sure to be a unique and empowering experience. This camp will provide the opportunity for participants to:

  • Develop pre-employment skills
  • Develop skills in international travel
  • Build social capacity
  • Foster independence
  • Encourage self-awareness
  • Improve self-confidence
  • Provide an opportunity to experience sports recreation, arts and culture.

The students have already started fundraising for this opportunity. Further information as to how the BSSC community can assist them will be announced very soon.
