Year 12 BSSC students, Taleah Vandenadort, Erin Beard and Nissa Wakefield, had an incredible experience at the National Youth Science Forum (NYSF) at the beginning of 2024.
Each of the three students have been encouraged to pursue their love of science—not only by their BSSC teachers, but by the team of dedicated people who run the NYSF Year 12 program each year.
After leaving NYSF feeling inspired, Nissa, Taleah and Erin applied to be part of NYSF’s Student Staff Leadership Program (SSLP); eager to help give back to the program that gave so much to them.
Having been successful applicants of the SSLP, the girls will return to NYSF in January 2025 to help deliver the program to Year 12 students—only this time they will return as Student Staff Leaders (known affectionately as ‘staffies’!)
Through the SSLP, participants will gain an understanding of individual and group values, develop connections, and grow their leadership skills.
