The BSSC Wellbeing Committee is a group of students passionate about the physical and emotional wellbeing of their peers, and keen to have an impact on a whole range of wellbeing issues across the college.
At their first meeting today, students quickly got down to the business of planning and brainstorming, coming up with some great ideas around major wellbeing events, health promotions and possible group programs to be held throughout 2019.
The students come from a whole range of backgrounds and interests. Josh is a psychology student with a genuine interest in helping others; Courtney wants to be a lawyer and has a passion for social justice; Gabbie knows that others are struggling much more than she is and wants to be able to help; others are interested in nursing and social work as possible careers.
The one thing they all have in common is a desire for BSSC to be a place where people feel safe, calm and supported.
It was exciting to see what half a dozen like-minded students were able to achieve in less than 45 minutes. If you’d like to get involved in the committee there will be another meeting in three weeks to plan for Respectful Relationships Day.
It’s a great group of students and you’ll be made very welcome… and the more great ideas, the better. Stay tuned for more details or ask one of the students in the photo.
