If the enthusiasm displayed at today’s Student Leadership Team (SLT) meeting is anything to go by, BSSC students have every reason to be very optimistic about how well they will be represented in 2023.
Lu Lu Wah is hoping SLT will create fresh events that will bring the college community together and Emily Mansfield is already excited about the Formal.
Members will also have opportunities Josh Rankin and Josh Price are looking forward to—such as the chance to develop and build on leadership and organisational skills.
The day kicked off with Principal, Dale Pearce, speaking to the group reminding them SLT offers them two things.
One is the opportunity to contribute in a significant way to fellow students and the wider college community. SLT, Dale says, is about ‘doing’.
Secondly, SLT is a chance to think about personal growth and development and gain important understanding about how organisations work.
Students heard some inspiring words from Sam Kane who is President of the community-managed Golden Square Pool and 2019 City of Greater Bendigo Young Citizen of the Year.
Sam told his story of long-term and ongoing involvement in community projects and urged the new SLT members not to underestimate what an everyday volunteer leader can achieve.
If you weren’t at SLT training today but would love to be part of this friendly, vibrant and enthusiastic group—it’s not too late.
Kendall O’Sullivan, Student Leadership Coordinator this year, says you’re still welcome to join.
Meetings will be held every Thursday lunchtime in the Conference room.
Congratulations to the following SLT executives, elected at today’s SLT training day.
President: Sam Graham
Year 12 Vice-President: Emily Mansfield
Year 11 Vice-President: Nissa Wakefield
