Year 12 students were immersed in all things further education today when the Tertiary Information Service (TIS) rolled into town. The morning began with an information session in the Ulumbarra Theatre where students were welcomed by Barney from the University of Melbourne, Vince from Bendigo TAFE and La Trobe student and BSSC Alumna, Ashley Eadon. There was a wealth of information presented, including the benefits of tertiary study; the changing workplace and the need for transferrable skills; the difference between TAFE, university and ITCs; fees and fee assistance, including scholarships; prerequisites, pathways and applying for courses; and some really valuable tips for moving away from home and embracing university life.

The highlight of the TIS is the expo featuring stalls and representatives from more than 20 educational institutions. It’s a great opportunity for our Year 12s to ask questions and start to think seriously about their preferences for further study in 2020 and beyond.
