AFL PREMIER LEAGUE

The BSSC Lions were on the board early with a goal to Caleb Fisher, but after an even first quarter, the visitors led by a point at quarter time. Our boys slowly gained the ascendency as the game progressed, leading by 10 points at half-time, and 16 points at three-quarter time before running away in the last quarter to win by 27 points, 9.9.63 to 5.6.36.

Goals: Caleb Fisher 2, Phil Moi Moi 2, Nathan McHugh 1, Mitch Christensen 1, Jack Thompson 1, Luke Padgham 1, Liam Marciano 1

Best: Kyle Stevens (Best Player Medallist), Charlie Mathieson, Lucas Cacciavello, James Schischka, Liam Marciano, Phil Moi Moi

The team plays again in two weeks (23 May) against Hallam Secondary College in Melbourne.

TENNIS – LODDON MALLEE REGION FINALS

Congratulations to the BSSC girls tennis team on progressing to the SSV finals after winning the Loddon Mallee Region finals in Mildura this week. The team of Court Warren, Katie McKellar, Leah Bicknell and Andrea Steel defeated teams from Maryborough, Swan Hill and Mildura. The girls started off very strongly, defeating Maryborough without dropping a set, and then followed up with a good win against Swan Hill, dropping just one singles set. Due to some rain delays, the final match against Mildura was shortened to only two singles and one doubles. After splitting the singles matches, the final result came down to Leah and Andrea in the doubles and they handled the pressure well to win 4-2.

The girls will contest the SSV State finals in Melbourne on 21 May.
