Macpherson Smith Rural Foundation RURAL CHANCES scholarship addresses the specific issues that many talented and enthusiastic young rural Victorians must overcome to pursue study, training or apprenticeships. This includes the increasing costs of many courses, the added costs due to distance/travel and the loss of familiar support networks that can occur when someone has to move away.

RURAL CHANCES scholarships are for young rural Victorians who are facing significant financial or social challenges, who have career aspirations and want to/or are studying at TAFE or undertaking an apprenticeship.

There are five scholarships of $5000 to assist young people to move away from their home town or to assist with extensive travel to complete training qualifications—including extra support from a mentor, and leadership and networking opportunities.

Additionally, smaller scholarships of up to $2000 are available for specific items such as equipment, course fees, tools of trade, travel costs, materials etc.
