Leader of the Opposition in Victoria, John Pesutto, and Member of the Victorian Legislative Council, Wendy Lovell, were guests of the BSSC Year 12 Politics class today.

Students were encouraged to consider politics as a worthwhile career aspiration and given the opportunity to ask Mr Pesutto a raft of questions.

Students dived into topics including how the Liberal Party plans to appeal to young people; how they would manage the cost of living crisis and housing affordability; small business challenges; issues around Closing the Gap on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander People’s accessibility to opportunities; how they would change the management of Victoria’s criminal justice system and how the Liberal Party would run Victoria differently to other parties.

Ms Lovell left students with this thought; “If you’ve got the slightest interest in politics I hope today encourages you to put your hand up, because you can change people’s lives.”
