With the deadline for the National Youth Science Forum (NYSF) just a week away, interested students had the opportunity today to hear first hand the transforming effect the experience can have on participants.
Year 12 student, Saad Sabri, who along with Tait Poyser attended NYSF in January, described his experience from the application process through to attending the event itself and urged Year 11 students to apply.
“It sounds like a cliché, but NYSF really was life-changing,” he said. “I really felt like a different person after the event.
“Travelling to a new city and meeting so many amazing people who shared the same interests and passions was amazing. I felt like I came away more confident about my pathway in the future.”
Bendigo students who apply for NYSF can also gain financial support from local Rotary clubs. Lynne Cooper from the Rotary Club of Eaglehawk also shared some inspiring stories of past BSSC students whose lives have been transformed by the NYSF experience.
It’s not too late to apply, BUT YOU’LL NEED TO ACT NOW. For further information you can email BSSC science teacher Jane Fong fong.jane@bssc.edu.au or Lynne Cooper Lynne coopero@iinet.net.au
Applications close July 31st.
