EAL students filled C-block with song on Tuesday morning in a lively session with local musician, Albert ‘Skip’ Skipper. Skip is well known in the Bendigo music scene for his work with bands like Ethanol and The Lost Heart Sirens, but he’s also fostering the next generation of performers with his own school of rock, ‘RPM’, and his program for pre-schoolers, ‘Nappa Dackas’.

It was at a Nappa Dackas session that Mardi Holland (Learning and Engagement Coordinator – LOTE & EAL) met Skip and realised he was the perfect fit for BSSC’s EAL students.

It was only a matter of minutes before Skip had EVERYONE in the classroom singing. An impromptu rendition of “We Will Rock You” almost lifted the roof off C-block.

“Music can save you,” Skip told the class. “I see it every day. You don’t have to be a professional – it’s the joy you feel that matters.

“Let yourself go with the music…do something you wouldn’t normally do…it’s good to be a little crazy once in a while.”

Thanks Skip!
