Our Specialist Sports students gained some wonderful insights into the world of the media on Monday morning in a one-hour workshop with James Freemantle of REDgum Communications.

James leads a team of diversely talented experts in media, education and organisational psychology and has worked with some of the biggest names in sport, including Essendon Premiership player Matthew Lloyd.

An expert in personal branding, James talked about the choices young sportspeople can make to be the very best version of themselves. He conducted a series of interviews with students to highlight the importance of the visual, the vocal, and the verbal when it comes to communicating with media.

James challenged students to identify their best and worst attributes in communication, to consider their audience, and to think about how they want to be perceived by the viewing public.

Well done to Kobe Mutch, Milly Wicks and Hugh Schaeche who stepped out of their comfort zones and in front of the camera to create some great learning for themselves and their sporting peers.

And a huge thank you to James for sharing his expertise with the students. For more about Jame’s work visit: http://redgumcommunications.com/james-freemantle/
