Legal Studies students from BSSC and other local colleges got the jump on the new Legal Studies design for 2018 when they attended the Victorian Law Foundation Head Start Program at BSSC today.
With eminent presenters, such as former Supreme Court Judge, Phillip Cummins AO, and Victoria Law Foundation Teacher in Residence, David Thomson, students were given a valuable foundation on which to begin their Year 12 Legal Studies program.
The day included sessions on Constitutional Law, the Criminal Justice System, and a visit to the Bendigo County Court where students gained first hand insights into the Victorian Jury System with Juries Commissioner Paul Dore.
David Thomson said the day was a unique opportunity for regional students.
“Getting a heads up on the new study design gives these students a real advantage,” he said. “It will allow them to hit the ground running in 2018 and feel confident in what their teachers expect of them.”
