Local people with disabilities, and their volunteer occasional-carers have a great deal of fun together. BSSC graduate from 2016, Hannah Mika, was an Interchange Loddon Mallee Volunteer last year. She described her experience:

“In 2016 I joined the team of volunteers at Interchange for 12 months. I assisted with the Youth and Adult Social Groups on a Friday night. We had great fun bouncing on trampolines at Jumpz or bowling down the alleys at the Bendigo Bowling Centre. I also volunteered on a few camps throughout my 12 months.

I thoroughly enjoyed my time at Interchange. It was amazing to see the smiles on all the clients faces as they enjoyed participating in activities and hanging out in each other’s company. Personally, I gained a lot during those 12 months, it felt good to be a part of such an amazing group of people that brought so many smiles to so many faces, and to anyone that is thinking about getting involved in the community I would recommend joining the team at Interchange, it is a wonderful and rewarding experience.”

For those who are thinking about a career in Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, Education or Special Ed, Nursing, Paramedics or Multi-media, volunteering with Interchange offers valuable practical experience.
