BSSC Year 12 students have had an inspiring kickstart to their 2017 studies. At a presentation in the Ulumbarra Theatre Assistant Principal Meredith Fettling and Student Manager Simon Wood led a session called ‘How to get what you want’.

Students were given a series of strategies about taking control of their life, both in and out of school, and minimising the stress and anxiety of Year 12.

There were useful tips for working smarter—not harder; for creating routines, ending procrastination, and working together to maximise learning. A TED talk by Tim Urban called “Inside the Mind of a Master Procrastinator” insists we all procrastinate to some extent—but we can also learn to manage it. According to Urban, it’s about finding the balance between the ‘rational decision maker’ and the ‘instant gratification monkey’.
