The Ulumbarra theatre complex was filled to capacity on Wednesday 19 October as families and friends celebrated the end of schooling for BSSC’s Year 12 students at their graduation ceremony.

BSSC’s graduation ceremony marks a very important milestone in each student’s life, providing an opportunity for parents, relatives, friends and the college to celebrate their achievements. Every student in attendance received their certificate of graduation from the college and a small commemorative gift.

Live music performed by BSSC students entertained the audience during the event, however the highlight of the entertainment for many was the DVD showing the transformation of cute children, embarking on a journey through their schooling, into confident and assured young adults who have reached the end of that venture and are about to embark on the next stage of their life journey.

Another memorable moment was the ceremony’s finale, with over 500 students filling the Ulumbarra stage to hear speeches from Student Council representatives Darcie Andrea and Matty Sievers, and words of encouragement from Principal Dale Pearce who spoke about the importance of ‘character’, urging graduating students to above all be kind and generous people.

Explaining the significance of the college’s Graduation ceremony, Mr Pearce said, “Graduation is the culmination of not just year 12 studies, but all of the years of education up to this point. The college is very proud of all of its year 12 students, and this event is an opportunity for the college community to say well done, and best of luck for the future.”
