EAL-VCAL students planted a bumper crop of chillies in the college garden this year, and today put their colourful harvest to good use. We found them hard at work in the VCAL kitchen making chilli jam to sell at Market Day in term three… now there’s something to look forward to!

Teacher Dan Hurrell said it was great for the students to be back in the VCAL kitchen after the renovations to the Alexander Wing.

“The students recently completed their Food Handling Certificate course,” he said. “So this is a great opportunity for them to put that learning into action.”

Some of the students also took the opportunity to hone their barista skills in preparation for ParticipACTION Week, when they’ll be making free hot chocolates and coffees in the Plaza. Stay tuned for more details.
