The Shadow Minister for Education and Deputy Leader of the Labour Party, Tanya Plibersek, visited BSSC on Tuesday, taking a tour of the college with Principal Linda Lyons, Assistant Principal Meredith Fettling, VET and RTO Manager Jenny Moloney, and Federal member for Bendigo, Lisa Chesters.
Ms Plibersek, chatted to drama students as part of her tour of the Ulumbarra complex, and also met Building and Construction students in the Trade Training Centre.
She expressed her concern at the proposed funding cuts by the Turnbull government which could see BSSC lose $3.5 million in Gonski funding.
“BSSC is such an innovative and inclusive educational facility,” Ms Plibersek said. “It’s an investment in the future of young people in the Bendigo region.”
Ms Plibersek then met with Bendigo Principals in the BSSC conference room to discuss education issues in the region.
