Congratulations to the two BSSC teams who competed at last weekend’s Cyber Games final at La Trobe University, Bundoora.

There were 11 teams competing in three rounds, with the three best performing teams progressing to the grand final.

The extremely talented team of Alex Krive, Tim Copeland and Clay Willie led the charge, coming 1st, 2nd and 1st in the three rounds to make the Grand Final. They lost narrowly to Northcote High School.

Our second team of Jackson Epworth and Finn Le Rossignol who came 2nd, 3rd and 3rd also did really well and missed making the Grand Final by the slimmest of margins.

Cisco teacher and ICT Coordinator Warren Sutton said he was impressed with the mature and positive attitude the students brought to the competition.

“To their credit, all five students who attended the initial training session earlier in the year stayed the course and gave up their day to participate in Saturday’s final,” he said. “They all enjoyed the experience and the four Year 11 students are looking forward to having another go at taking out the title in 2018.”

“It was challenging but definitely fun,” Alex said. “I would do it again if I wasn’t in Year 12!”

The Cyber Games, auspiced by La Trobe University, Quantum, Cisco and Optus, provided students with software way beyond what a school needs or could access, and handled amounts of data that were incredible.
