Unit 3 VET Community Services students will spend the next month working with the Downtown VCAL Foundation cohort to complete the competency ‘Respond to client need’.

The students have drawn on the Foundation VCAL curriculum to create a range of activities to engage with the Downtown VCAL students and enhance their numeracy, literacy and personal development.

BSSC teacher, Peter Burns, praised the collaboration between the two schools.

“It’s so much more than an opportunity for students to complete competencies for their studies,” he said. “It’s fantastic to see the interaction between students from both schools… it breaks down so many barriers and improves the students’ communication skills.”

Today’s session included family trees, self-awareness games, art-based activities and lots of ice-breakers designed to get students talking and sharing.
