Year 2 Allied Health Students experienced a hospital environment first hand today visiting The Alfred Hospital in Melbourne.
Students learned about the Alfred’s role as a major tertiary hospital and one of the primary trauma centres in Victoria.
The day involved Q&A opportunities with a range of medical staff including an ED consultant doctor, paramedic, ICU nurse, social worker, occupational therapist, as well as physiotherapy and medical students.
Students also engaged in a clinical skills rotation, working through a trauma simulation, wound dressings and intravenous cannula and nasogastric tube insertion.
It was an incredible day of learning and our students were outstanding ambassadors for the college.
