Congratulations to BSSC music student and tuba virtuoso, Aidan Purdy, who scooped the pool at the recent National Band Championships held over the Easter weekend.

Put simply, Aidan made history at this year’s competition. He competed in two open solo events and two junior solo events and won all four sections.

Reflecting on Aidan’s amazing result, BSSC music coordinator Matt Pankhurst said he was positive no one has held all of those titles all at once.

“This is totally unprecedented,” Matt said.  “I also suspect that no one has ever won four national titles of any type at the same national championships, it’s a pretty amazing feat.”

The adjudicators characterised Aidan’s performances as world class.
