BSSC students, staff, alumni and special guests gathered together in Ulumbarra Theatre today for the 2023 ANZAC ceremony.
The ceremony, which is always such a special event on the college calendar, was hosted beautifully by Student Leadership Team members Sam Graham, Nissa Wakefield, Emily Mansfield, Lindsey Andrews, Lu Lu Wah and Sneha Gosai.
Along with some other distinguished guests, we were honoured to be joined by RSL Vice President Warrant Officer Glenn Ludeman, Uncle Paul Chapman and special guest speaker, Brigadier Steven Lee.
Mr Lee spoke passionately about his experiences and the importance of remembering the sacrifices that were made.
The crowd was treated to several performances by our amazing BSSC musicians: Josh Russell, Tait Poser, Brady Phillips, Ellie Close, Matt Walters, Liam Jenkins, Rose Norton, Yanfeng Ross, Molly Bartels, Raphaella Musk, Roman Martin and Alice McKellar.
The Last Post was performed by BSSC alumna Rachael Hamilton, and the bagpipes were played by BSSC teacher Brenton Hayward.
Ulumbarra was filled to overflowing, with many students watching the ceremony via screens in other classrooms.
The ceremony was followed by a procession to lay wreaths, before guests enjoyed a luncheon on the Ulumbarra mezzanine.
A huge thank you to everyone who was involved with planning today’s ceremony, as well as the crowd, who were extremely respectful as we all came together to commemorate ANZAC Day.
