BSSC offers its condolences to the family and friends of Jim Aitken who passed away on the 17th of October after a short illness.

Jim matriculated from Bendigo High School in 1941, and commenced duty in the Courts Branch, Victorian Law Department the following year, working in various capacities in the courts until his retirement 43 years later.

Commencing as an assistant Clerk of Courts , he was promoted to Clerk of Courts at various loations and was eventually appointed as a Stipendiary Magistrate and sat in Magistrates Courts throughout the State for 16 years.

Jim has been described by family and friends as having a quiet manner, being a committed Christian, a wise counsellor, and an excellent communicator who was loved by many and respected by all. He was a country “farm boy” who excelled at his studies and lead by example.

Jim was a long-time member of Old Gold Bendigo Inc.
