Dear students and parents/carers,

As you are all aware, we needed to postpone the filming and screening of our 2021 Graduation ceremony from the
original date of Wednesday 20th October. The many active cases that we had in our community at the time confirmed
that this decision was a necessity and certainly the right thing to do.

In the last few days, we have all received the news that with the very high vaccination rates in Victoria, we will be seeing a
relaxation of restrictions in the coming weeks. With this news, DET will be allowing student assemblies in November,
which means that we are delighted to announce that we will be able to film our Graduation ceremony on the revised date
with a student audience. The following is the updated advice regarding this event.

Graduation – Friday 19th November

We will be filming a ‘virtual’ Graduation ceremony on this day with our Class of 2021 in the audience and it will then be
streamed to our college community at 6pm that evening. Students will be allocated a time between 1.00pm and 1.30pm
to arrive at Ulumbarra Theatre, to allow for a staggered registration.

All students must enter via the Ulumbarra steps and it is vital for the smooth running of the event that you arrive at your
designated time; students cannot be admitted early. Filming of the event will begin at 2pm sharp and it is anticipated
that it will conclude by 3.30pm. Students should RSVP to the event using this link: Graduation RSVP
Adhering to all social distancing requirements, students will then be filmed as they are presented as a BSSC 2021
graduand, walk across the stage, receive their graduation certificate, class photo and Alumni pin. The dress code for the
event is semi-formal. Students will be required to wear a mask within the Theatre, but broadcasting regulations will allow
them to remove their mask as they move across the stage. Unfortunately, restrictions will prevent parents/carers from
entering the Theatre.

The final version of the Graduation Ceremony will be streamed via the BSSC website (www.bssc.edu.au) at 6pm on Friday
19th November. We hope that families will be able to enjoy watching the final product together. The timing of the stream
will still allow families to go out for dinner afterwards, if they choose. There will be an interactive component to the
ceremony, with audience members able to send in messages of congratulations and a request to households to send in
photos of themselves watching the ceremony, which will be displayed at the conclusion of the event. Please share this
link with all loved ones so they, too, can watch the event and become involved in the ceremony.

If you wish for a Prep/Year 12 photos to be included in the ceremony, please ensure you send a copy of your Prep photo
to events@bssc.edu.au or bring a hard copy to the Student Services Centre by Friday 5th November.
Please email graduation@bssc.edu.au if you have any queries about this event.

Each of our students are now going into a very important time; our VCE students are actively preparing for their exams,
while our VCAL students have either already entered the workforce or will be transitioning to employment or further
training. Regardless of our students’ pathway choice, we want our students to remember to give your very best effort and
please reach out to the college if we can be of support to you. We look forward to seeing you on Friday 19th November.

Regards,

Dale Pearce – Principal  and  Kylie Hand – Assistant Principal
