This morning BSSC celebrated the completion of the 2026 Regional Pathways Program (RPP).
The program is all about giving regional secondary students the heads up on important knowledge about what La Trobe and university in general has to offer. This includes how to apply for uni, the day-to-day experience of being a uni student, course information and, importantly for many regional students, how to secure accommodation.
These fortnightly sessions coordinated and run by La Trobe University staff, are also offered at numerous other Central Victorian secondary colleges and the number of BSSC students participating has built from 13 to 47 over the last few years.
But today was about celebrating the commitment of our students who weighed up the benefits and challenges of taking on something extra in Year 12 and recognised the immense merit of the RPP as they planned for their futures.
The vox pop from some of our students about the value of the program included these comments:
“I heard about it from BSSC’s Careers and Pathways team—I’m really glad I’ve done this program.” Steph
“It was so informative, especially on all those little insights about uni life you might not discover until you were there. It was also great to talk La Trobe students about their experience.” Neriah
“I definitely feel more confident about going to uni next year.” Logan
“Yes, I feel we now know what to expect.” Lily
Head of La Trobe’s Bendigo campus, Marg O’Rourke, and Senior Coordinator of the RPP, Steph Di Palma, presented each BSSC student with a showbag and ticket to this month’s five-day NBL Basketball Blitz.
Warm appreciation was extended from La Trobe and BSSC staff to the extensive list of sponsors supporting this terrific opportunity:
