BSSC Year 11 student, Jess Stevens, recently completed a workplace learning placement at Hello Gorgeous hair salon in Eaglehawk.
This was an opportunity for Jess to gain valuable insight into the fast-paced and customer-focused nature of the hairdressing industry.
During the placement, Jess assisted with a variety of salon tasks—including washing and folding towels, maintaining a tidy work area, sweeping floors, preparing client refreshments, and greeting and assisting clients.
She also had the opportunity to assist with basic hairdressing activities such as blow drying under supervision, helping her develop practical skills and confidence within a professional salon environment.
Jess’ friendly nature and positive attitude were perfect for the welcoming atmosphere of the salon.
This experience provided a great introduction to the hairdressing profession and reinforced the importance of customer service, presentation, teamwork, and attention to detail.
We thank the Hello Gorgeous team for supporting Jess and providing a meaningful opportunity to explore a potential future career in hairdressing.
