Henry Moorhead is a VET Automotive student in year 11 at BSSC. As part of exploring career pathways, he gained great hands-on experience through a Structured Workplace Learning (SWL) opportunity with Yellow Iron Fleet.

Yellow Iron Fleet provide heavy equipment and machinery—including excavators, bulldozers, wheel loaders, dump trucks, graders, scrapers and more—to service the civil, construction and mining industries. Henry was in his element working with this equipment.

He was well supported by the staff, particularly in the workshop, as he assisted with the many tasks required for the maintenance of earthmoving equipment, parts and machinery, including working in the paint booth.

The work experience also gave him insight about maintaining a clean and safe workplace and following all Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) policies.

“This is definitely what I want to do as a career,” Henry says. “Everyone has been really supportive and I’ve really enjoyed it.”
