During a Structured Workplace Learning (SWL) placement with Bentrol, BSSC Year 12 VET Electrotechnology student, Zac Firli, gained hands-on experience in the assembly and preparation of electrical switchboards.
Zac’s tasks included assisting with the preparation of components, fitting hinges, supporting the switchboard assembly process, and helping to maintain an organised and efficient workspace.
Working alongside experienced staff provided valuable insight into the day-to-day operations of a specialised manufacturing environment.
Throughout the placement, Zac demonstrated a positive attitude, attention to detail, and a willingness to follow instructions.
He developed further understanding of workplace health and safety (WHS) requirements and recognised the importance of organisation, cleanliness, and precision when working with electrical equipment and components. Zac’s reliability and eagerness to learn allowed him to contribute effectively to the team.
The placement gave him the opportunity to experience a professional manufacturing environment and how teamwork, safety, and attention to detail contribute to a quality finished product.
It was a rewarding experience which broadened Zac’s understanding of the industry and helped him further explore his interest in electrical and technical roles.
