BSSC Year 11 VET Automotive student, Lachie Venville, spent a week completing Structured Workplace Learning (SWL) with Gejay Automotive.

Lachie applied a range of skills whilst working at Gejay—and also learnt many new skills.

He was given plenty of opportunities to be hands-on in the workshop; following instructions and supporting staff. Lachie worked on a broad range of vehicles—completing everything from oil changes, brake inspections, and diagnostic duties, to tyre rotations and air conditioning inspections.

Lachie enjoyed the work and felt like he was part of the team.

“It’s been really good,” says Lachie. “I’ve had a great week!”

The week of SWL has given Lachie a better understanding of the day-to-day workings of the automotive mechanical field and believes that this is the career for him.
