On Thursday 26 November all 2016 BSSC students will start classes and coursework for their selected program. Read how to get an effective head start to 2016.

Step Up Week: Thursday 26 November to Wednesday 2 December

Step Up, which is a compulsory part of the school year, commences on Thursday 26 November, when all students will be introduced to the 2016 classes in their chosen subjects. Students will follow a sample 2016 timetable, meet other students and their subject teachers, as well as starting introductory work on the course requirements for each subject.

Continuing students must collect their timetable from their 2015 advisor in their 2015 advisor room at 8:50 am, and then proceed to a welcome assembly in Ulumbarra at 9:00 am.

All students will need to bring pens, paper/exercise books and any text books purchased through the college. There is no expectation that all text books need to be purchased prior to Step Up.

In 2016 all students studying at BSSC are required to have their own notebook/tablet device for use at the college as part of the BYOD program. Those who already have one should bring their own devices to BSSC during the Step Up program. Support on how to log student tablets and other devices into the college wireless network will be available during Step Up.

To assist you with the purchase of new devices, BSSC has created a portal with Learning with Technologies which lists suitable devices to purchase.

Student Absences

Students with legitimate absences for all or part of Step Up must notify the college so they can be provided with access to all class materials missed via the Compass portal.

After notifying the college of absences, students will get a username and password for Compass so they can access all their subjects and the prepared materials and resources used during Step Up. Students then have the opportunity to complete this work prior to the start of the 2016 school year.
