ATHLETICS – LODDON MALLEE REGION FINALS
BSSC track & field athletes had a very successful day at this week’s Loddon Mallee Region athletics finals. Those who were successful in winning their event will now progress to the SSV Finals in Melbourne on Monday 22 October.
First placings:

Gabby Rusbridge – girls 18-20yr 400m and 800m
Ben Powell – boys 17yr 100m and 400m

Alia Melgin-Hill – girls’ 18-20yr 1500m and 3000m
AUSTRALIAN JUNIOR VOLLEYBALL CHAMPIONSHIPS
Congratulations to Susie Godfrey and Dillon Gauci who have just returned after representing Victoria at the Australian Junior Volleyball Championships on the Gold Coast. Susie was a member of Victorian team which won a bronze medal in the U/17 Girls Division 1. Dillon was in the Victorian team which finished 6th in the U/19 Boys Championship Division.
SUCCESS FOR BSSC STUDENTS IN LOCAL FOOTBALL AND NETBALL
Several BSSC athletes were successful with their local clubs at the latter end of the AFL and netball season.
Maya Van Es and Hayley McLeod were both members of the South Bendigo B Reserve netball team which won the Bendigo Football Netball League grand final.
Alice Layton, Ryan Kealey, and Jed Rodda all featured amongst the winners at the Strathfieldsaye Football Netball Club awards. Alice won the Storm Spirit Award in the A grade netball, while Ryan was voted Most Improved in the U/18 football, with Jed leading the goal kicking in the U/18 football.
In the Golden Square Football Netball Club Best & Fairest awards, Bree Heiden won the A-grade netball coach’s trophy, Macy Brown won the B-grade netball coach’s trophy, and Kayla Ashcroft won the 17-and-under netball coach’s trophy. In football, Alex Jenkyn was runner-up in the U/18 best & fairest, and Tim Fitzpatrick won the ‘Most Improved’ award.
At the Eaglehawk Football Netball Club awards, Zack Bulger won the Best & Fairest in the U/18 football, with Jack Thompson in second place and Corey Roberts in third. In the 17-and-under netball, Charli Dean was runner-up in the Best & Fairest.
Kangaroo Flat Football Netball Club held their Best & Fairest count last Friday. Congratulations to Ella Wicks who won the 17 & under netball B&F award. Abbey Gindal also polled well to finish fourth. Georgia Lowther was runner-up in the B grade count, and Katie McKellar won the Netball Development Squad count.
Ella Wicks and Bree Heiden were both members of the North Central 17-and-under netball team which was defeated by one goal in the Netball Victoria State Titles grand final.
