Lions win in style

Our Premier League footy team made it two from two today, winning their second round match by 102 points over Lilydale High School. The scene was set early when the BSSC boys had two goals on the board within the first couple of minutes. They built on their lead as the match progressed, leading by 38 points at quarter-time, 50 points at half-time and 88 points at three-quarter time. Billy Robertson picked up where he left off against CCB, winning the ‘Best Player’ award. Other good players were Braydan Torpey, Wade Donnan, Nathan McHugh, Rourke Turner, Tom Nunn, Leyton Chisholm and Hugh Schaeche. Tom Nunn had a big day up forward, kicking seven goals. Braydan Torpey kicked four, with two each to Wade Donnan and Nathan McHugh. The boys next match is against Box Hill on Wednesday 7 June at Canterbury Park, Eaglehawk.

Footy boys in Vic squad
Congratulations to Kane Farrell and Bailey Henderson who have been selected in the Victorian Country squad to play in trial matches this weekend. These matches are key trials for next month’s national AFL U/18 championships. Kane and Bailey are both members of BSSC’s AFL Premier League team.

Volleyballers make state team
Congratulation to Dillon Gauci, Lachlan Hill, Matt Poulter, and Loreena Vincent who all gained selection in the Victorian State Team to contest the Australian Junior Volleyball Championships. Dillon was selected in the boys under-19 Blue Team, while Lachlan and Matt made the under-19 White team. Loreena has been selected as an emergency for the girls under-19 team. The championships will be held on the Gold Coast in September. Fantastic achievement for all players.

State golf champion
Congratulations to Jarrett Miles who today won the Under 17 Division of the Victorian Secondary Schools Senior Golf finals at Metropolitan Golf Club. Jarrett shot a two-under par 69 and has now qualified to represent Victoria at a national event later this year. Jackson Guan also qualified to play in today’s event but was unable to produce the same form that got him into the final. Great effort from both boys to reach this level.

State orienteering champion
Congratulations to Jimmy Cameron who has just won the Open ‘A’ section in the School Sport Victoria State Orienteering Championships. The event was held at Plenty Gorge. Jimmy won the same event in 2016.
