Term two sport started this week with swimming finals and AFL Sun Country Cup.  Be sure to register for BSSC or state teams if you are interested by following the links below.

SSV State swimming titles

Congratulations to Holly Hawke who was our sole competitor at the SSV State Swim finals at Melbourne Sport and Aquatics Centre this week. She finished with a 4th placing (50m freestyle), two 5th placings (50m butterfly, 50m backstroke), and a 6th placing (200m freestyle). The SSV finals bring together the best swimmers from around the state, so Holly has performed exceptionally well to make four finals, and was very close to finishing on the podium in a couple of her events.

AFL Country Cup

Our 2nd XVIII football team started their season very well with a convincing 34-point win over Catholic College Bendigo at Epsom on Wednesday. The boys got away to a fly early, kicking with the wind in the first quarter and establishing a 16-point lead by quarter-time. They extended the margin to 38 points by half-time after controlling the ball brilliantly throughout the second quarter. The lead increased to 55 points by the end of the third quarter, but could have been greater had it not been for some inaccurate kicking which resulted in 4.7 for the quarter. CCB played an excellent last quarter to reduce the margin to 34 points at the final siren.

Final scores:  BSSC 14.8.92 defeated CCB 8.10.58

Goal kickers: Jacob Micallef 3, Tyler McLeod 2, Tom Nunn 2, Jasper Stewart 2, Patrick Gretgrix 1, Mitch Keuken 1, Braydan Torpey 1, Seb Spijkerman 1, Seth Galvin 1.

Best players: Hayden McSwain, Braydan Torpey, Seb Spijkerman, Tyler McLeod, Jacob Micallef
