Year 12 VET Engineering student, Ollie Duffy, spent a week at Agnico Eagle Mine in Fosterville on Structured Workplace Learning.

Ollie had the opportunity to experience some of the industries that operate on the Fosterville site and has been introduced to the wide range of trades and professions involved in the function of the mine, operating 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Ollie put into practice some of the competencies he’s gained so far in his VET Engineering studies by working with boilermakers, heavy vehicle motor mechanics, electrical technicians and OH & S officers.

Structured Workplace Learning has enabled Ollie to strengthen his trade skills, gain an understanding of applications in associated industries and enhance pathway opportunities for employment.
