The college is proud to announce the new Student Council for 2016. Congratulations to Matty Sievers who was voted Student Council President. Matty will be joined by Vice President Darcie Andrea, Secretary Ashley Eadon, and Treasurer, Adelaide Annand in the executive team.

Well done to all 33 enthusiastic members who have volunteered to join the Student Council.

On Tuesday, students attended a full day of training provided by Second Strike. Attendees Darcie Andrea and Brae Shewell said they learned what students can expect from their participation on Student Council.

“We also developed some strategies for identifying issues of importance to the student body and how to set our group goals for 2016,” Brae said.

Commenting on the outstanding qualities of the students on Student Council this year, facilitator Dave Mould said it was a pleasure working with such an intelligent, articulate and dynamic group of students.

New president Matty Sievers said he would love to see a stronger student voice in 2016.

“Ideally students will have an effective input into College Council and the organisation of the wide range of assemblies and events that involve them,” he said.

Student Council Coordinator Travis Matheson said the Council plays an important role at BSSC, hosting a number of fundraisers and volunteering at college events.

“I’m looking forward to working with this dynamic group of students in 2016,” he said.
