VCAL Foundation Literacy students stepped into the kitchen this morning for a ‘MasterChef’ challenge as part of the Practical Purposes component of their course.
Students worked in pairs to brainstorm ideas, create their own recipe within a budget, then bring their ideas to reality in the VCAL kitchen.
The recipes were as diverse as they were delicious, with many students inspired by family favourites in their own households such as pancakes with fresh berries, sausage rolls, egg and bacon muffins, scones and lemon slices, and the brilliantly named ‘pizza moon rocks’.
Judges, Hamish Bolton and Gaylene Langley couldn’t separate the dishes, and when students sat down afterwards to share their creations, everyone was indeed a winner.
