What is a VCE Pathway?

Use the Pathways below as a guide to help you in constructing your own VCE Program in discussion with parents, teachers and careers advisors. You are free to choose any combination of units you like. You do not have to choose one of the Pathways. You can move in or out of the pathway and change your VCE course at the end of the first semester, or at the end of the year. You are not locked into your choices. Why Pathways?
How to Use PathwaysThis section is meant to guide you to the correct source of information rather than supply the information. It is important to remember that prerequisites for courses and careers can change from year to year. It is vital that you seek out the most recent information (VICTER booklets).
Once the career direction has been decided, you should work 'backwards' to decide which VCE Pathway and combination of units will lead you there. At this stage you should ask yourself three questions:
Languages Other than English [LOTE]Languages Other Than English have deliberately not been listed in any specific Pathway because they can be successfully included in every Pathway. Whatever package of units you put together, you should consider including a LOTE. Its relevance is highlighted by the fact that some University business courses now include LOTE.
