If you wish to explore concepts related to humans' and society's relationship with outdoor environments, Outdoor and Environmental Studies should be a subject you choose. Outdoor and Environmental Studies makes use of a range of compulsory multi-day practical activities, in varied environments, to explore theoretical concepts dealing with environmental relationships. It provides as excellent background for a career in Outdoor/Recreation, Eco Tourism or Environmental Science.

    Future of Natural Environments

  • Practices that maintain natural environments.
  • The importance of the natural environment for the future of human societies
  • Practical knowledge of outdoor living
  • Principles of conservation and policies for decision making to resolve conflicting interests
  • Strategies used to influence decisions about the use of natural environments
Assessment: Assessment in Outdoor and Environmental Studies 3 & 4 comprises 25% school assessed coursework in Unit 3, 25 % school assessed coursework in Unit 4, and a two hour end of year examination worth 50%.
