"It is essential that by the time they leave school, all students have developed a body of employability skills and have an understanding of the work environment and of the various transition and career paths open to them."
Mr Kerry Bartlett, MP Chair of the Inquiry into Vocational Education in Schools, The Parliament of the Commonwealth of Australia, House of Representatives, Standing Committee on Education and Training, March 2004, Canberra, p.x

Many of the programmes offered at Bendigo Senior Secondary College have a real work focus. Students are encouraged to consider their areas of interest and be actively involved in organising a workplace learning experience.

Work arrangements vary from largely observational work experience in an area of interest, to Structured Workplace Learning, which contributes to assessment for a subject being studied.
