CHARLES STURT P.R.E.P. SCHEME – application forms for this scheme are now found online and available NOW!.
PREP stands for Principal’s Report Entry Program and is designed to attract academically talented students from the High Schools in non-metropolitan areas in NSW, ACT and Victoria.
To be guaranteed an offer under PREP, a student must include that course as a preference on their UAC application form and to receive an Early Round offer that preference must be the highest preference the student has nominated.
A successful PREP application guarantees selected students an offer to their preferred course at CSU prior to the mainstream selection system, which is based on the Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR). This means you could be made an offer before your Year 12 results are known.
Charles Sturt University offers almost 100 courses to undergraduate students, however the courses below are excluded from PREP.
PREP is offered to non-metropolitan schools in Victoria, NSW and ACT and to students who are currently in High School and taking TAFE subjects as part of their studies that may make them ineligible for an ATAR.
See Mark in Careers for more information on this fantastic scheme.
CHARLES STURT UNIVERSITY REGIONAL BONUS 2011
Students interested in studying at CSU are advised that they are automatically eligible for a 5 point bonus on their ATAR. CSU also has a PREP program, where students can be recommended by the college for early offers based on the college’s recommendation ( rather than the ATAR). Students interested in CSU are encouraged to speak to a Careers Counsellor ASAP.

DAFYDD LEWIS TRUST SCHOLARSHIP Dafydd Edward Lewis (1866 – 1941) migrated to Australia from Wales in 1896. He first worked in the drapery field and eventually established himself most successfully in business, with a partner, Joseph Love. Lewis was a man of bold character and an entrepreneur who believed in hard work and education. When he died in 1941 he left an estate valued at £700,000 to be held in perpetual trust to provide scholarships for boys for full time tertiary study. The Trust was established in 1942 and the first scholarships were awarded in 1943.
The Dafydd Lewis Trust continues to provide equity and merit-based scholarships to young men who might not have otherwise received a University education due to the limited financial resources of their parents. Multiple scholarships are awarded every year for full-time degrees in most courses at any Victorian university with 80 scholars being currently supported in 2011.
Students can intend to study any degree offered at any university in Victoria, with the exception of Arts, Education, Music & Theology, excepting those students who wish to undertake the Arts course for the purpose of gaining entry to a course which was previously offered by the institution as an undergraduate degree but is now only offered at postgraduate level.
Applications are open now, and must be received by the Trust no later than Friday December 9, 2011
MARY JANE LEWIS SCHOLARSHIP When Dafydd Lewis died in 1941 he left his estate to be held in perpetual trust, to provide scholarships for boys to attend full-time tertiary education. The Mary Jane Lewis Scholarship Foundation, named in honour of Dafydd Lewis’ second wife, was created in 2004 by a group of passionate philanthropists to reflect the educational environment of today.
The Mary Jane Lewis Scholarship Foundation is structured on a similar basis to the Dafydd Lewis Trust. Equity and merit-based scholarships are awarded after consideration of a combination of an applicant's academic performance, a means and asset test applied to applicants and their parents, and an interview. The key difference is that the Mary Jane Scholarship Foundation is restricted to young women. There are no restrictions on the degree course that scholarship recipients can take.
Applications are open now, and must be received by the Trust no later than Friday December 9, 2011

TDT VICTORIA CADETSHIPS , the principal source of industry advice about training to the Victorian Government, has developed a Cadetship program to encourage young people into the Transport and Logistics industry.
Ours is a rapidly growing industry, with the freight load in Australia alone predicted to double by around 2015. The Transport and Logistics industry currently has an ageing workforce and it also suffers from having a poor image. Basically the industry is not considered a top career choice for young people.
With these factors in mind, TDT Victoria has developed a program to encourage exit Year 12 students into the industry.
This program is not about truck driving.
Currently there are 11 Cadets participating in the second year of the pilot program and there are 17 Cadets participating in their first year. These Cadets are based in Shepparton, metropolitan Melbourne and South Australia. In 2010, Cadetship places will be offered across metropolitan Melbourne and throughout regional Victoria.
The Cadets are employed by industry and will complete their Diploma of Logistics in two years.
The program has been enthusiastically welcomed by industry and we are looking to expand the program. To find out more about the companies already contributing to the success of the Cadetship by engaging Cadets, please visit http://www.tdtvictoria.org.au/cadetships/students
