Ozone

  STRUCTURE
Ozone is a molecule that constantly changes (resonates) from one form to another.
OCCURENCE Ozone, O3, forms naturally in the stratosphere when UV radiation breaks oxygen molecules (O2) into single oxygen atoms. These collide with oxygen molecules to form ozone. Ozone forms above the equator where the sun's energy is strongest. It then moves towards the poles.
PROPERTIES Ozone is very good at absorbing UV radiation. The ozone layer acts like a shield, stopping most of the harmful radiation from reaching the Earth's surface. When low in the atmosphere, ozone acts as an atmospheric pollutant
