Leadership & Key Learning Area Professional Development & Practica
One Day Teacher Practicum for Curriculum Leaders and Classroom Teachers:
  
This program is designed to provide participants with an overview of how BSSC effectively integrates ICT across the whole school.  Focus will include school tour, overview of eLearning plan, examples of classroom practice including use of our course management system, online resources and internal professional development.
 
Learning Area Practica:
  
BSSC will be offering the following Learning Area Practicum Programs in 2004:
One day Learning Area specific Practicum (select Learning Area)
Languages, Business Studies, English, Information Technology, Technology Studies, Health and Human Development / Physical Education, Studies of Society and Environment.

Combined Learning Area specific Practicum
Select Learning Areas:
Art / Media, English / Media, Maths / Science
 

Follow-up Visits BSSC provides a one day follow-up visit in your school.  Schools selecting this option will be provided with resources to work on between the practicum visit to BSSC and the follow-up visit, which will occur between two weeks to one month after the visit to Bendigo.
  
Principal & Principal Class Practica   We work with leadership teams in schools on designing and managing whole school change, sharing the strategies used within the Navigator Schools Consortium. 

This seminar addresses:

Strategic Foundations - school's vision, resource decision processes, provision of unique school resources, sharing leadership responsibilities, social justice and inclusivity practices.

Cohesive Community - support and promotion of the school's vision, collective responsibility for individual students and student learning, engagement of all in serious critique of the school's vision and practices, tailoring of individual talents to the school vision.

Infrastructure Design - use of time, space and technologies ensuring they are responsive to the developmental needs of students, conducive to excellence in pedagogy, supportive of the school's vision.

Authentic Teaching & Learning - shared understanding of excellence in teaching and learning, teachers' work based on clearly articulated educational theory, teaching practice reflects school vision, assessment and reporting practices approved by the community, student achievement measured against agreed benchmarks. 

Professional Development programs to support the change process.  

Using research and data collection to monitor and inform developments.
 
Thinking Oriented Curriculum Professional Development & Practica
Thinking Oriented Curriculum
  
This one day program provides an overview of a range of learning and teaching strategies which can be used to ensure that teachers are implementing a Thining Curriculum in their classroom.  Strategies include Bloom's Revised Taxonomy, Gardners Multiple Intelligences, de Bono's 6 Thinking Hats, Graphic Organisers and the Productive Pedagogies.
 
de Bono's 6 Thinking Hats This one day program provides an introduction to the educational theory of de Bono's Thinking Hats. Practical suggestions on how the 6 hats can be used effectively within the classroom and beyond will be demonstrated.  Participants will receive a de Bono Manual and Certificate.

de Bono's Direct Attention Thinking Tools (DATT) This one day program provides an introduction to the educational theory of de Bono's DATT tools.  Practical suggestions on how each tool can be used effectively within the classroom and beyond will be demonstrated
Participants will receive a de Bono Manual and Certificate.

Implementing Higher Order Thinking Skills in your classroom  This one day program will look at strategies teachers can use to effectively implement units of work incorporating Bloom’s Revised Taxonomy and Gardner’s Multiple Intelligences.

This session is an investigation into the building blocks of an educationally focused web based intranet.
 
Developing an online course

Learn the benefits and issues of developing an online course; you can view examples from LOTE, SOSE and IT.
 

Developing online curriculum with
www.web-and-flow.com

This three day program (2 days plus 1 day) provides participants with an overview of the different online learning and teaching formats which are available ranging from Hotlists, Knowledge Hunts through to WebQuests. Participants are then introduced and trained in the use of the interactive website of www.web-and-flow.com which enables the development of online curriculum without having to know html or webpage authoring tools.
  

One Day Library Practicum Participants of this program will develop knowledge and understanding of BSSC's cyberlibrary and electronic resources.
 

Teaching and Learning Software Training

Learn how to use and incorporate different software into your teaching and learning strategies.  Software can include:
