Group Synthesis

You have made it! Well Done! Each pair within your team has now developed a deeper understanding of some of the key issues that relate to Globalisation. To help you work together and synthesise some of this material the following tasks are to be completed.

STEP ONE:
As a team listen to the The globalisation debate by students at Carey Grammar School (16 and 17 year old students from Dale Bennett's year eleven English class at Carey Grammar in Melbourne, argue that globalisation may be thought of in terms of intensified flows of people, resources, technology and ideas across political and cultural borders). This may provide you with futher information to inform your final decision.
STEP TWO:
Investigate the multinational companies of Nike and McDonalds. Work together to complete a PMI to identify the pluses, minuses and interestings of these global companies.
STEP THREE
You are now ready to find an answer to the question "What is Globalisation and how does it impact on individuals, Australia and the World?".

As a team take the opportunity to categorise your ideas under the headings of Me, Australia and the World using this table to assist you in the process.
You will find that as a result of your research for each role you may already have a clear idea of what Globalisation is and what sort of impact it has on the world. Remember that this task is about being open minded and looking at a whole range of areas that Globalisation impacts on.

STEP FOUR
Ensure that as you begin the teams discussion that you are ready to be convinced of alternate viewpoints. Remember what one person may consider to be a positive may be a negative for another.

To assist you in organising the wealth of material you have discussed use this SWOT Chart. A SWOT Chart is useful to help us analyse the information we have. An awareness of the strengths and weaknesses of Globalisation is important for us to evaluate the impact it has. By identifying opportunities that may exist along with potential threats we are able to develop a well rounded argument.

Us the completed chart to assist you and your team in making a final decision on the impact of Globalisation.

STEP FIVE
You now have the opportunity to put together all your thoughts, ideas, deliberations into a PowerPoint that will be presented to the rest of the class and forwarded to Jacinta Allan.

Take care to address the following as you work together in this final stage:
1.Clearly provide arguments from each of the roles (Economist, Human Rights, Environmentalist and Anthropologist) that support the teams final response.
2. Make use of a wide variety of information such as pictures, movies, facts, opinions, etc that you explored in order to provide clear reasons for the teams final opinion.
3. Provide clear recommendations that the Minister can refer to in relation to whether or not Australia should support a policy of Globalisation.
