About BSSC Community Learning & Teaching Students Facilities & Services

NECC

In June 2004 I was provided with a travel scholarship to attend the National Eductional Computing Conference held in New Orleans, United States of America. At this conference I attended a session by Bernie Dodge on "Blogs and Wikis".

Since my return I have been keen to implement these new learning and teaching strategies into my classroom.

Wikis

An open content encyclopaedia that allows for open editing. Ideal to use for my History of Revolutions class. Have requested ICT Planning Committee to arrange the use of wikipedia software to be placed on the College's server for me to trial.

My recommendation is that I trial the use of wikipedia in my class and then present to staff early next year if found to be suitable. As a teaching and learning tood my intention is to make entries for key characters and events of the French and Russian Revolution. Students will then be able to go in and enter information on these to build up a comprehensive wikipedia of information that supports their studies. Students will be able to enter data at school or home.

Blogging

View the WeBlog I am developing on the implementation of wikipedia at Bendigo Senior Secondary College.
