Exchange program with Sister School, SMUN2 in Makassar, Sulawesi. Formerly every second year, a BSSC school group visited our Sister School in Makassar for three weeks. Students had the opportunity to stay with Indonesian families, attend school, make new friends, and of course, go sight seeing at that time. However, at present, government regulations do not permit student/school group travel to Indonesia.
On the other hand, each alternate year, our friends from SMUN2, Makassar, visit BSSC and experience the Australian way of life for 2 weeks. BSSC students have the opportunity to host an Indonesian student for the duration of their stay in Australia, which is a fantastic experience and improves understanding of Indonesian culture and lanagauge.
SMUN2 is a school with approximately 1800 students situated in the large city of Makassar or Ujung Pandang in Sulawesi. School in Indonesia is very different to school in Australia. Each class has 40 - 50 students and there is a set curriculum to follow, according to which stream a student selects (E.g. Science, Social Science, Langauges etc.) Studetns begin school at 7am and finish at around 2pm most days. Students play a wide range of sports including basketball, soccer and badminton.
Bendigo Senior Secondary College welcomes overseas students. To find out more click here.
