BSSC Year 11 VET Electrotechnology student, Jay Annett, recently completed Structured Workplace Learning (SWL) with McDonald Electrical, gaining valuable hands-on experience in the electrical industry.
Working on new residential building sites, Jay supported qualified electricians with a range of tasks including site preparation, organising materials, fitting lighting, and assisting with basic wiring activities under supervision.
The placement provided Jay with insight into the day-to-day work of an electrician, and the roles electrical trades play in residential construction. Following instructions, working safely, and contributing to the team, Jay developed practical skills and a greater understanding of workplace expectations.
