Ulumbarra Theatre was packed this morning, as Year 11 and 12 students gathered for their respective year-level assemblies to hear key information and useful advice for the year ahead.
Members of the Leadership Team welcomed students—both new and returning—and encouraged them to commit to doing their best.
“Push yourself beyond what you think you’re capable of,” urged BSSC’s Principal, Dale Pearce.
Students heard from a range of college staff and were reminded about the wonderful opportunities that are available for those who wish to make their most of their time at the college.
They were also encouraged to make the most of each day; hearing from former and current students about the supports and routines that have been a key part of staying on track throughout the Year 11 and 12 journey.
Both year levels not only received valuable advice, but were treated to a performance by Year 11 student, Ryan McPartlane, with his rendition of ‘Green Eyes’ by Coldplay.
Kylie Hand—who will become BSSC’s Principal at the end of Term 1 when Dale Pearce retires—emphasised the support available for students at the college and highlighted the need for students to give this year everything they’ve got.
“You don’t get what you wish for, you get what you work for.”
Over 1850 students will be attending BSSC this year.
